Web Development Stages

I would like to explain to you about the stage where we do our web development. By understanding this, expectation is managed.

Hence, when we present a WIP to you guys, we would refer it based on the stage so everyone knows what to expect.

I would like to use an analogy on building websites by using building a house.

1. Stage 1 : Foundations
   We begin developing a website by laying the foundations. Just like building a house, we lay the bricks, prepare the space for rooms. So when you walk into the house, you see the house with the rooms and the kitchen, but no furniture etc. We will paint the house, expecting some changes.
   
   So in this stage of WIP, you will see:
   1. A website with most of the navigations sorted out
   2. A general approved look and feel
   3. Minimal animation

From here, you would be able to see how this site navigates, and give comments based on the links and the site structure.

2. Stage 2: Function
   Then we will make the website fully functional. Just like the house is now equipped with fans, lights, doors, etc.
   1. The website to be with the backend systems
   2. Modules like “forward to friend”, “print this page” to be working
   3. Minimal animation

From here, you would be able to test the functions, the website is mostly functional and ready to go live once furnish.

From here its also expected that we shall had received most of the content from client.

3. Stage 3 : Refine
   This is the stage where we refine the work to make it LOOK great, FEEL great. Just like adding furniture and decorations to the house, we add the touch of taste to the house.
   1. Refining the animation and the flow of website
   2. Inserting the approved CONTENT
   3. Website populated with the right copy & images

This is the last stage before we go LIVE. Comments on a detailed manner are appreciated. Checking on content is important. Once everything is approve, we shall go live.

Please understand that these stages may overlap on certain items, depending on the manner of the project.
